Writing and Poetry

In English writing, you learn to write out your thoughts and ideas and explain them on paper. You will write essays, persuasive arguments, and practice your grammar and style until it comes naturally. Additionally, you become more adept at reading both your own and other people's writing, which helps you write more clearly and forcefully. The writing includes analysis of others writing and creative writing, which gives you the chance to experiment with narratives, essays, and any other concepts that come to mind.

Poetry courses dig even deeper into language. You get to play with rhythm, sound, and all the different ways words can communicate. You also read poems of all kinds and styles, breaking them down for their meanings. Then you try writing your own poems. It’s a challenging but rewarding when you learn to pack lots of details into short poems. Poetry pushes you to get more comfortable with words, stretch your creativity, and pack interesting ideas into just a few lines.
